Lava present charitable donation to AANI

Last year the Lava Group have been working in partnership with Air Ambulance Northern Ireland (AANI) as our “Charity of the Year”.  The company recently made a presented for £1,200 to Grace Williams, Area Fundraising Manager from AANI.

AANI manages the helicopter operations of Northern Ireland’s Helicopter Emergency Medical Service.  It works in partnership with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and the Health Trusts which provide the medical teams on board its helicopter.  It has been estimated that the presence of AANI will help to improve the long-term health outcomes for up to 300 people annually.  Each year it takes £2million to sustain the Service and without support from the public, the Service could not exist.

As a charity, we rely on donations from the public and business communities in Northern Ireland to help us reach our fundraising targets”, said Grace Williams, Fundraising Manager

Throughout the year staff got involved in a number of fundraising activities including the Belfast half marathon, bag packing, sweepstakes, and Last Man Standing competitions.  Several colleagues channelled their inner Spider-Man and took part in an abseil challenge, plunging 100ft off Belfast Castle!

Lava’s “Charity of the Year” collaboration is part of our corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy. Each year staff are given the chance to nominate the charities close to their heart and the list is put to a company-wide vote.  Air Ambulance Northern Ireland was chosen by staff as the Charity of the Year for 2018/19.
