Lava Group proudly donates to Marie Curie

The Lava Group has always believed in making meaningful contributions to society. Over the past year, we have been proud to collaborate with Marie Curie, having chosen them as our “Charity of the Year.” Recently we were honoured to present a donation of £2,500 to Anne Hannan, Partnership Manager from Marie Curie.

As Northern Ireland’s most prominent charitable organisation in end-of-life care, Marie Curie provides invaluable services. From home-based nursing to palliative care and bereavement counselling, including services in their Belfast hospice, they stand as a beacon of hope for many. Not just limited to care, they’re also at the forefront of policy, campaigning and research aimed at enhancing end-of-life care.

Throughout the year, our staff participated in a range of fundraising events from a raffle and coffee morning to sweepstakes and ‘Last Man Standing’ contests. A highlight was when a team from Lava collectively embraced a 180km journey, either walking or cycling, along the River Lagan. Another inspiring story was of a colleague who committed to a daily 10K run for an entire month!

Supporting Marie Curie has been an enriching experience. We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who stood by us in our various fundraising initiatives. The funds we’ve raised will facilitate 108 hours of essential nursing care for individuals with terminal illnesses, letting them find comfort in their own homes.

Our “Charity of the Year” initiative is a testament to Lava’s strong corporate social responsibility (CSR) ethos. Every year, our employees nominate charities dear to them and the list put to a company-wide vote. Marie Curie emerged as the staff’s top choice for the Charity of the Year for 2022/23..
